SNIPER
Like I said on facebook, I just might post like crazy on the blog for the next couple
of months, but let me not squeeze too much info at once. As you
would have read on the post that I put up recently, I’ll be introducing fresh
new talent this 2017. All raw and uncut. And this time we’re not creating any boundaries. We’ll be covering everything from music, brands, and events while
keeping up with what’s hot too. So without wasting time let’s introduce our second rapper to make an appearance on Smiley’s World.
I first heard of this young
lad less than a year ago, one of my connects sent me his track and I really
wasn’t feeling it. But he assured me that this guy was onto something with his
music. So I started giving him some attention straight after and then I realised
that creativity is something you can’t compare.
Sniper, straight from Sabie is
who I’m talking about. Guy only started writing lyrics at the age of 15 and
then passed them over to his friends for approval, which to some was a surprise
and others just overlooked it. Above everything, Sniper believed in his work
and stuck to his guns, which ultimately became a habit while others were trying
to put him down. After he perfected his writing skills, he then hit the studio
in 2015 and started recording. Although critics had mixed reviews about it,
they gave him room for improvement, which made him fall deeper in love with
music as a whole. As time went by in 2016, he continued recording and
experimenting with sounds that made sense to him as a rapper. Being an active
rapper for over a year now, he understands that you need to put in the work to
stand out from the crowd.
Sniper listens to new breed of
talent such as Flame, A-reece, J-molly, Ex-global and Zooci Coke Dope which he
admires and idolises a lot. Though he feels like Ambitious Entertainment is
doing the most and are worth listening to these days. He has so long released a
song titled ‘Let em know’, which is basically a motivational song directed at
the youth of today and is currently working
on a new single titled ‘Champion’ which he is experimenting on with a new and
different sound to it. “This type of sound is something that is meant to impress
other rappers and show my versatility on because I’ve been stuck on one note
for a while now and that doesn’t show progression in my work”. What tops the
cake is the fact that he’s also working on an E.P that he wants to call ‘Road
to success’ which will be about the struggles we face in our everyday lives.
His friends such as Young Swae
and Lady Truth have been the people that actually influenced him into what he
is today from the beginning, from writing lyrics and supporting him while
others were telling him otherwise. That’s why he says that he sees himself as
another musical influence since he’s trying to bridge a gap that people are
scared to face. He’s not doing it for the awards but to become the greatest at
what he does. He’s also focused on building a followership on social media so
that he can reach as many people as he can through the art of rapping.
His last piece of advice to
other young, up and coming artists “is to stay true to who you are, never
change for anyone and always do you with what you know, always pray about it
and never sleep on talent”.
