This week's second artist is Eben Mkhabela aka Slang G. This guy is a rapper that originates all the way from Bushbuckridge, Mpumalanga. This hard working individual started rapping when he fell in love with music as a whole over a decade ago. He's an artist of many talents from singing and rapping to dancing. This could be the reason why he's a big Michael Jackson fan. He says that music made him "feel good in a weird way", because you really cannot put emotions into words. This young talented individual is solely influenced by music as a whole instead of individual musicians. Though, people like Michael Jackson, Jay-Z and Eminem were the people that he related to and connected with the most through their different artistic ways of portraying the art itself.
His latest single titled 'Assalum Alaykum', which clearly translates to an Arabic greeting, has had 7 radio playlists nationally including YFM and Ligwalagwala Fm and is also available on iTunes (Link below). On this single he worked with Dr Feel who has also worked with big artists including Ifani and Emmy G. Both Slang G and Dr Feel are like what Eminem and Royce the 5'9 are when they formed group 'Bad Meets Evil', but only difference is they call themselves 'Pulse SA' and together with Dr Feel they are currently working on a new single titled 'Mount Olympus' which is due for release next year. Apart from such, Slang G has also landed features on print media such as the popular South African Hip Hop magazine 'HYPE' and The Pretoria News.
Slang G also plans to venture out into the entertainment industry and try out a few things such as Movies acting, book writing, an online music streaming channel and photography. In the meantime, he's merely focused on his craft of music where he does what he feels is right rather than being dictated by the industry to do what they feel he should do in order to "make it". His advice for all the up and coming and current rappers hustling to get into the industry and go mainstream is that "one should be dedicated to work hard and to always know what they are doing". Being genuine and knowing what you are doing with God by your side can get you anywhere you wanna be. Always think smart and never be typical.  https://itunes.apple.com/za/album/assalum-alaykum-single/id1019061616
